Former WADA-president Richard W. Pound goes to EASM 2012 calling for a stronger effort against corruption in sport

A global problem requires global solutions, says the experienced IOC member and corruption fighter.

One of the staunchest opponents of ethical malpractices in sport, the Canadian IOC-member Richard W. Pound, has just confirmed that he will join the EASM 2012 conference in Aalborg, Denmark, and give a keynote address entitled "Corruption in Sport is a Global Problem: It Needs a Global Solution".

The Alberto Madella Scholarship Fund




Alberto Madella (1956 – 2008) was appointed an EASM Honorary Member in recognition of the commitment, enthusiasm and energy he demonstrated in the field of  sport management. He worked for many years with EASM in various roles and served as General Secretary from 1996 to 2004. His passion for the subject and his dedication to teaching and research inspired many scholars, students and academics throughout the world. In recognition of the work undertaken by Alberto, EASM initiated the Alberto Madella Scholarship Fund.

The fund allows people to apply for 500 euros to help them attend the annual EASM Conference and/or Student Seminar.

Extended deadline PhD Seminar

This year EASM in collaboration with the University of Southern Denmark offers a PhD seminar 2 days before the EASM conference on 16 and 17 of September 2012 called "Sport between business, politics and mass media - Young researchers´ seminar on current management issues". The seminar provides a platform to PhDs for discussing their research questions and exchange information about their research, across PhDs in the same situation and in interaction with experienced keynote speakers. There are few vacant seats available, therefore the deadline has been extended and will be open until the 10th of June unless the number doesn´t surpass 20 participants before this date.  

EASM can provide a certification for those who would needs this for university funding.

There are currently still 9 places available. The maximum is 20.

Course literature and a revised program will be ready by the mid of May. We hope to see lots of you in Denmark in September!

The remit of this project is to gain an understanding into the extent to which football supporters feel empowered by the current governance structures in the game. The objective is to understand the extent to which football fans in the UK and other European countries engage with structures such as supporters’ trusts, fan clubs and/or national and transnational fan networks. The project aims to explain the meaning of football to the daily lives of a representative group of engaged fans.
The Research Associate will join Dr Borja García (PI) and Dr Brett Smith (CO-I), as part of Loughborough University’s team in an international research project entitled ‘Football Research in an Enlarged Europe’ (FREE). This project is funded by the European Commission under the 7th Framework Programme for Research (FP7).

EASM offering partnership in future European projects in Sports

Following the open call from the European Commission for the Preparatory Action "European Partnership on Sports", EASM will offer itself as a partner organization in future European projects in Sports and the pilot project "knowledge Partnerships".

The main objective of this Preparatory Action is to prepare future EU actions in this field, on the basis of the Sport Chapter of the proposed Union Programme for Education, Training, Youth and Sport for 2014-2020 ‘Erasmus for All’, building on the priorities set in the 2007 White Paper on Sport and the 2011 Communication on Developing the European Dimension in Sport.

EASM will offer itself as a partner organization in the following fields:

(1) The fight against match-fixing,
(2) The promotion of physical activity supporting active ageing,
(3) Awareness-raising about effective ways of promoting sport at municipal level,
(4) Trans-frontier joint grassroots sport competitions in neighbouring regions and Member States.
