He is member of EASM since 1993 and of its Board since 2001. He is member of the Basque Sports Board and of the International Advisory Board for IESE’s International Sports Management Center.
His entire career has been closely associated with the subject of sports management in university, business, and public spheres, and he has combined this work with the management of events such as the international congresses 1991 Sport for All: Economical Aspects and EASM 2001: Leadership and Human Resources in Sport Management. He also managed the 1993 IAAF World Cross Country Championships, has taught on several master’s degree programs, and contributed to magazines in the field of sports management.Mikel holds a Degree in Physical Education, a Diploma in Business Sciences, and a Master’s Degree in Business and Advanced Management.

Prof. Dr. Herbert Woratschek

Since 1996 Prof. Dr. Herbert Woratschek is Full Professor at the Faculty of Law, Business and Economics and Head of the Department of Services Management at the University of Bayreuth in Bavaria, Germany.

He is also Director of the Sport, Business and Law programme (bachelor and master degree). Herbert was Visiting Professor at LaTrobe University in Melbourne, Australia in 2008/2009 and at University of Calgary, Canada in 2004. From 2006 until 2008 he was adjunct Professor for Sportmarketing at the Business School of Trondheim, Norway. In 2000 he founded the institute for interdisciplinary Services and Sport Management together with Klaus Zieschang and in 2006 the Sport Management Academy Bayreuth together with Klaus Zieschang and Guido Schafmeister.
Herbert’s research focuses on the measurement and management of service quality, on the service profit-chain and on sport fan behaviour as well as on several aspects of sport management. In these fields he published numerous academic articles (e.g. European Journal for Sport Management, Journal of Relationship Marketing, Journal of Service Research, Australasian Marketing Journal, Die Unternehmung, Marketing ZfP, DBW) and made several conference contributions (e.g. EASM, SMAANZ, EMAC, ANZMAC, IASE, ICRM or WEAI). Further he is member of the Editorial Board of ESMQ, Journal of Sport Finance, Journal of Sport Marketing and Sponsorship and Sport Marketing Europe. Herbert is member of EASM since 2000, EASM Board Member since 2005 and EASM Vice-President since 2009. He was Head of the Local Organizing Committee for the EASM Conference in Bayreuth/Heidelberg 2008.

Gerco van Dalfsen

He graduated in 1994 in Physical Education and sport management and gained a Masters degree (MSc) in sports management in School of Psychology and Sport Sciences at Northumbria University, Newcastle, England. He teaches at (post)graduate level on various modules including Strategic sport management, Sport and media, and is responsible for international affairs. Gerco is at the Hanze University also working as a researcher for the knowledge center New Business and ICT and the knowledge center Sport Science.

Ruth Crabtree
EASM Board Duties: Treasurer
Ruth is a Principal Lecturer and is Director of International Development for the School of Psychology and Sport Sciences at Northumbria University, Newcastle, England.

Her main responsibilities include developing international links and agreements with other Institutes of Higher Education as well as teaching in the field of sport management. She teaches at postgraduate level on various modules including organisational development, resource management, and strategic management. Ruth's main research interest is in sport tourism and in particular countryside management. Her research interests have enabled her to travel to many different countries including Australia, America, Europe and Africa, where she has spent time examining different perspectives on how to manage national parks and tourists. She has undertaken consultancy work both in the UK and overseas in the past for different bodies and organisations.

Dr. Per-Göran FAHLSTRÖM

His educational background includes a BA in Pedagogy, Sociology and Psychology, a Physical Education Teacher Education Degree and a Top Coach Education Diploma. He has a PhD in Pedagogy on the topic: “ Ice hockey coaches - a study on recruiting, work and leadership style”. His research interests are in sports coaching, leadership in sport, talent and talent development etc. He teaches mainly at CSM Study Program (Coach and Sport Management) in courses like Theories of Leadership and Organization in Sports, Sports coaching, Sport didactics, Sport Organization and Society, Sport and Society etc. Today he is working with two larger research projects, one focusing on talent development strategies within the Swedish sport federations and one project on youth sport development in Swedish ice hockey. PG has more than 30 years experience of organizational work within Swedish Badminton Federation, including positions as board member, national coach, President of the elite sport committee and President of the education committee etc.

Veerle De Bosscher

She graduated in 1994 in Physical Education and earned a Masters degree (GGS) in sports management in Brussels (VUB, 1995) and also in training and coaching in Leuven (KUL, 1995). In 2007 she obtained her doctorate summa cum laude on the topic: “an international comparative study on Sports Policy Factors Leading to International Sporting Success”. Veerle teaches into courses that deal with the formulation of sport policy and in regard to the management of sport. Her research interests are in different areas of sport management related to sport- and elite sport development, governance, international comparison of sport (policy) systems, competitiveness of nations in regard to elite sport performance, youth sport development, and quality management in sport. She is author of the book ‘the Global Sporting Arms race’ (Meyer and Meyer, 2008) and ‘Sports Policy factors Leading to International Sporting Success’ (VUBPress, 2007). Veerle is leading an international network of research cooperation in high performance sport, called SPLISS group, which aims to develop and coordinate expertise in high performance sport research at the meso-level (policy level) and to share this expertise with other policy makers and researchers worldwide. At policy level Veerle is an official member of the board of elite sport committee in Flanders and was involved regularly as an advisor for elite sport policies in Belgium and other nations.

Hallgeir Gammelsaeter

Hallgeir Gammelsæter holds a PhD in Administation and Organisation Theory (University of Bergen) and runs courses in Management and Organization Change at post-graduate level.

Moreover he also teaches Organization of sport at the Sport Management program which he initiated at Molde University College in 2004. Hallgeir has a wide background in organization and management research, including studies in organizations as diverse as corporations, co-operatives, health institutions, universities, public agencies and now football clubs and associations. He started to study sport organizations in 2001, publishing his first book in the area on the Management of Football clubs in 2002 (in Norwegian). He has since carried out projects on the governance of Norwegian and Scandinavian football and has published in Soccer and Society and ESMQ. He is currently editing a book on the governance and organization of football across Europe.
